So many memories from 48 years of friendship: Ruth playing Bryan Ferry and Gallagher and Lyle records in the house we shared in Emerson Street, York, in the 1970s. That unique version of the hand-jive that we perfected together - even if we never performed it when listening to either Bryan Ferry or Gallagher and Lyle! Her smile and the laughter we shared so often over the years. The times she was there for me as a friend and confidante when things were tough. Her love for Mark and the family who were the centre of her world. The way she always lived life to the full in whatever she did. Her positivity and the amazing courage with which she faced cancer. That positivity that was still shining through when I saw her just over two days before she died. I will always be grateful to have had the opportunity to be with her that one last time. Thank you, Ruth, for having been in my life. Rest in peace. Richard x
